    Lincoln Steffens, The Shame of the Cities (1904; Hill & Wang, 1957; Sagamore Press, 1957)
    This work is a collection of magazine articles, which Steffens wrote for McClure's Magazine. Steffens was a reporter for the New York Evening Post and was famous for the muckraking journalism style. The Shame of Cities was a series of investigative articles, which Steffens wrote in order to expose local government corruption.
