South Africa. . liberal?

Who said Africa wasn’t that liberal? Well, if they’re not, it seems as though they’re slowly reaching that status considering yesterday’s recent events that occurred in Cape Town, South Africa. According to the Daily News, the South African parliament overwhelmingly approved new laws that approved gay marriage. Who would have ever thought that in a country where homosexuality is so “taboo,” that the parliament would actually be passing laws to make gay marriage legal. However, you still have your traditionalists like Kenneth Meshoe, lawmaker, who said it was the “saddest day in our 12 years of democracy.” Nevertheless, the bill has extended the basic rights for everyone, breaking the chains of apartheid. Do you think this is a good change for South Africa? If so, do you think other countries in Africa will follow South Africa’s lead? I would love to know you guys' thoughts.
