In its very long NYC salary guide—which is organized by field—New York Magazine did something funny. It put TV reporters in the “Television” section and print and online journalists in the “Media” section. That means Charlie Gibson (seven million a year) and Anderson Cooper (two million) rub shoulders with Dave Letterman (31 million) and Dick Wolf (200 million).
In the other aisle there's Thomas Friedman (300,000) and Jessica Coen of Gawker (30,000) alongside Martha Stewart (about 14 million) and Norm Pearlstine, editor-in-chief of Time (2 million).
Thanks for reinforcing every “bad actor” joke I’ve ever told myself about TV reporters. I think my nose just went up another inch.
