The Divine Intervention

The US-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were about an attack on terrorism, a (not so successful) hunt for WMDs, overthrowing the Saddam regime in the interest of world peace and in latest news, President Bush’s divine calling.

According to an article in the Guardian, President Bush told a Palestinian delegation that God had asked him to perform these noble acts, for the good of mankind.

I have the utmost respect for every individual’s right to practice their religion—but I have always had an aversion to politicians using the 'God' angle as a last resolve to salvage a truly disastrous situation. The article states

One of the delegates, Nabil Shaath, who was Palestinian foreign minister at the time, said: "President Bush said to all of us: 'I am driven with a mission from God'. God would tell me, 'George go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan'. And I did. And then God would tell me 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq'. And I did."

The photograph used along with the story is quite humorous and dont miss the blog entries about this latest revelation by President Bush. It just keeps getting better and better.
