Ouch

I think this cartoon just about says it all – can the public trust the media anymore? Is the media even aware of how it’s changing, usually for the worse?

Judith Miller is probably the catalyst for this cartoon – especially when you look at the bottom where it says, “Book deal pending.” This cartoon is probably the best summary of what’s plaguing the media these days. Being honest seems to be less important than grandstanding and getting a book deal. My impression of Judy Miller now is that she was less interested in protecting her source, and more interested in showing the world what a great and honest reporter she was.

If we stick to basics, like honesty and candor, we can get the public’s trust back. But if we keep on the path that people like Judy Miller have set for us, we’re screwed before we even start.
