Moments That Make You Embarassed for Your Profession

I've got two nominees:

1) Nancy Grace interviewing Elizabeth Smart.

2) Connie Chung's swan song.

Sure, the Stephen Glass, Jayson Blair and Jack Kelley scandals were disgraceful... but I've seldom felt the awful emotion of embarassment for others more powerfully than when watching the clips linked above.

Well said. From where I stand as a journalism student, I see nothing as damaging to the field as the everyday absurdities of television news. The Daily Show usually points out the greatest offenses, especially the ones that appear on cable. Last night they ran an insightful segment on Fox News' abuse of the question mark.
