The war on terror has going on for five years now... ever since terrorist hijacked American commerical planes on September 11, 2001. America immediately sent troops into the Middle East and shortly thereafter, America was able to see what was going on through the eyes of "embedded journalists" who traveled with the troops and reported from the battlefields. There is some debate as to whether these journalists provided significant information. There are questions about whose interests they protected. My question is where are they now? If what they did was so captivating and necessary why don't we hear more about them now. Is it because Iraq is now free or is it because America has already achieved its purpose in having them there? I just haven't heard anything about these journalists in a long while and wonder what they are up to, if anything. There are obviously journalists in Iraq but I don't think they are contained underneath the "embedded" definition. So, how significant was the work of the embedded journalists if the government no longer has a need for them when we are still at war?
