How Has Your Life Been Affected Since
September 11?

"You see a lot more racial profiling
go unnoticed, especially at the airports. I think people
are a lot more in favor of the military who were not
before." Amanda Gerut - Senior, CAS |
 |
"I have not been affected at all. I process
it on an emotional level, and do understand that
it was a terrible tragedy, 5000 people lost their
lives and more people are dying in Afghanistan as
the US retaliates, but personally I feel it is an
exciting time to be in. When it happened, I said
this is why I am in New York, because I am going
to be right in the middle of it." Joui Borgfeld
- Junior, CAS |
 |
"I have to watch my back more
often, also just thinking about what happened affected
me personally, because I had friends that worked
at the World Trade Center. Luckily none of them
were hurt, but it is still something you have to
think about." David Fernandez - NYU Employee,
Accounts Payable Division |
 |
"Mostly what has changed I think for everyone
is priorities. I think I have been more in touch
with friends that I had not been in touch with for
a while." Christina Livelli - Junior, Gallatin |
 |
"I find myself really scatter-brained. I
cannot really focus. I feel like my attention span
has gone down significantly. It is really strange;
I have not gone down to ground zero so I feel like
there is a sense of incompleteness about the towers.
I know that they are gone, but I have not found
closure yet." Fatima Dacosta - Junior, School
of Education |
 |
"My life has changed because
the people around me have changed. There is a
just a different kind of awareness, you can sense
it in people." Joseph Pasaoa - Junior,
Gallatin
|
 |
"I am doing the same things I would be doing
had it not happened. I think I am just a little
more anxious about everyday, but I have not let
it stop me or change my plans." Heather
Dearvy - Grad Student, School of Education |
 |
"Since September 11 I have realized there
are more important things than grades and homework."
Jerry Chiang - Freshman, CAS |
 |
"I watch things a lot more closely, in the
tunnels, on the subway, and I do not think that
is ever going to go away." Robert (no last
name provided) - Grey Line Bus Driver, Student Bus
Service |
 |
"I find myself not wanting to be in Manhattan
as much. The longer time goes by where nothing happens
I get more anxious." Alvin Jones - Grad
Student, Tisch |
