Growing up in a single family home, Josue\u2019s mother worked multiple jobs so that she could purchase a personal laptop and dial-up internet for him.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Josue\u2019s laptop allowed him to excel at school. He received full scholarships to both his high school and university, changing the entire trajectory of his life. Knowing the possibilities that technology could bring, Josue built First Tech Fund, and this is his story.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"THE ENTREPRENEUR by NYU JOURNALISM\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?visual=true&#038;url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F944163721&#038;show_artwork=true&#038;maxheight=750&#038;maxwidth=500\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/fact-tank\/2020\/03\/16\/as-schools-close-due-to-the-coronavirus-some-u-s-students-face-a-digital-homework-gap\/\">Pew Research Centre <\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">more than 15% of school aged children in the United States do not have access to high speed internet in their homes and majority of these students come from Black and Hispanic households. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"text-header-xs\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-213 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/nyujournalismprojects.org\/workers2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/IMG_9954-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><em class=\"font-weight-regular\" style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"><em style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Bessie is a multimedia journalist who is originally from Melbourne, Australia. She worked as a management consultant for a little over two years before changing careers to journalism.
