The East Village Other

This site, created by the NYU Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute in conjunction with its NYTimes.com community news and information site, The Local East Village, celebrates the history and significance of the often-outrageous East Village Other (1965-72). The website grows out of the research for an exhibition and panel discussion at the Carter Institute. Each weekend, for the eight weeks leading up to the exhibition opening on Feb. 28, 2012, the Local East Village posted essays from EVO’s living and departed greats. The essays are republished in RECOLLECTIONS below.
