So, What are Your Internet Habits?

Claria Company, a marketing and personalization software company, will soon be releasing PersonalWeb, a tracking software that will tailor web pages for internet surfers based on their online viewing habits. So if you like cars, kittens and that show The Facts of Life, the software will be create a page that encorporates all those things--even ads from car companies or ... kitten companies.

While homepage services like Yahoo, MSN and Google allow browsers to customize their own web pages, PersonalWeb changes with your interest, So a webpage about cars, kittens and The Facts of Life might become one about (oh, let's say) kittens, self-help and Proactive skin cream--with all the relevant advertising.

Sound fun? Here's what one commenter had to say about it on news aggregation site Digg.com:

If I could see the look on their faces when they pull up my history and see 20 pages of my crawler going to livestock pr0n sites. “My god, he looks at horse pr0n 23 hours a day, then he goes and hangs out in yahoo chat!”

Sneaky advertising ploy? Or a long-winded journey into the derranged psyche of an internet browser? Or an even better question: What are your internet viewing habits?
