KCAA-AM might have the greatest "dumb luck'"in radio right now. After CBS fired Don Imus on April 12, this small talk radio station, out of San Bernardino, Calif., continued running reruns of “Imus in the Mornings” in its 6 a.m.-9 a.m. time slot.
It turns out that it was the only one.
The station planned on running the reruns once Imus was put on probation for his inflammatory remarks about the Rutgers women’s basketball team, according to Daren Lane, KCAA-AM general manager. Once Imus was fired, the plan apparently remained the same. Only they chose to re-air the "show" interspersing it with emails and commentary from listeners, in order to educate the public.
But CBS was not too keen on the idea, suing KCAA-AM $150,000 for each violation of copyright. Meanwhile, “Imus in the Morning” began losing advertisers. (This goes to show that market trends would have taken care of Imus to begin with.)
So for any of you just dying to soak up your last bit of Don Imus, tune into KCAA-AM this Friday, April 27, because it will be the last time you will hear him on air.
Employment Opportunity! Meanwhile, Daren Lane and KCAA-AM plan on creating a local talk show to replace Imus’ three hour morning gap. Any takers?
Maybe because of all this publicity, the morning show will be a hit. Maybe the whole station will soar! KCAA-AM and Daren Lane: Maybe it is just your laidback, California way …b ut taking your time to replace Imus might have been the best non-decision you ever made.

Bring Imus back as a talk show host even if it's only as a guest speaker for the first week just to piss CBS off.
