Michael Douglas Didn't Mean It, It's Just That the Media is Out to Get Him

In the latest of media-related scandals, Michael Douglas claims he was misquoted by GQ writer Jeanne Marie Laskas. GQ is sticking by its writer, saying that Douglas is the one who made the mistake here.

Of course, Douglas has the magazine pegged as one of those publications who's got it in for anyone and anything related to the celebrity.

Listen, Mike, the fact that your dad was in Spartacus and your wife is really hot does not give you license to cry conspiracy on the media. They don't have it in for you. In fact, prior to this, I'd never even heard your name on the gossip columns aside from the incredibly easy "you were in high school when your wife was born" jokes. So as far as I know, the media and Michael Douglas have had a decently peaceful relationship. So why would they start targeting you now?

Does the media look for saucy quotes? Yes. Do they sometimes exploit them into full-blown scandals and stories? Sure. But here's the catch. They can only print what they are given. (Except in the case of Blair and Sylvester and Frey......ahem.) Quotes don't just come out of thin air. There must be at least some truth behind what was printed.

Do us all a favor and admit you talked smack about Brangelina. It's fine. In fact, it kinda makes you look cooler.
