From Magazines to Flip

Tween girls are so much luckier than we were at that age. Sidekicks, iPods, PDAs ... that’s all expected at 13 years old these days. When I was 13, the coolest electronic gadget I had was the newest Giga Pet.

Now, tween and teen girls have one more thing I never had.

Magazine mogul Conde Nast just launched their new site, Flip.com, which allows the user to create their own media books, complete with background, pictures and music, all for free. And let me tell you, some of these books are good. One girl created her own fashion spread of cheap options while another chronicled her vacation in pictures.

Since creativity and effort decorating lockers for birthdays and creating collages determined your "best friend" or "just friend" status in middle school, these books would have been an amazing creative outlet to have.

But I can see the parent and school complaints now… Mean Girl’s burn book anyone?
