Mommy Blogs Taking Over Morning Show Audience

A recent article in the Los Angeles Times has reported an almost 10 percent decline in women ages 25-54 who watch morning shows. Among the several reasons listed were the rise in popularity of mommy blogs where women can find the information they want and need in a faster and more efficient format.

A report in late 2005 from the PEW Internet & American Life Project said that less women use the Internet than men, but since that time it is safe to assume that that number has only grown. Mothers 10 years ago might have had access to the Internet, but most likely used it much less than mothers today. And even if they were using the Internet, chances are it was not to communicate with other women in the unique way that is now available through mommy blogs.

While morning shows may have to work on more creative ways to compete with mommy blogs, I still think that they will serve a purpose and will not be going anywhere any time soon.
