Charlie Gibson wants you to have a steady diet of news—whether you like it or not. Gibson opened World News Tonight last night with his thoughts on the future of journalism, according to published reports Gibson says the net allows people to get away with being uninformed, which is bad for us news junkies/media types:
“The fact that people are going to the Web and gravitating toward news that they want makes it more important for somebody putting together the front page of the Tribune to say, ‘Well, it’s still important for you.”
He continued...
“It’s a defense of journalism. It’s not that we know better. ... It’s not an elitist function. It's an editorial function. It is a function of taking a look at what's important in diet of daily news and saying, “Here’s what I feel is important.’”

Good point Xana, everyone's got their own taste and it's better to cater to them all in small "publications" that large one that mixes them all together.
