Spector Trial to be Televised

Legendary music producer Phil Spector’s U.S. murder trial will now be televised, as reported by the BBC here. Spector, who is now 67 years old, is accused of shooting and killing actress Lana Clarkson in his home in February of 2003. Now the court has decided that the trial, set to begin in the coming months, will be broadcast for our viewing pleasure.

Apparently courts have been hesitant to broadcast celebrity trials since the O.J. Simpson trial turned sideshow that we endured over a decade ago. But this is America’s chance to show off our new and improved legal system and hope that the cameras can bring an added justice to the courtroom.

Uh, yeah, right. These cameras will bring little justice to this trial. They’re a money-making scheme for the networks and eye candy for the public.

That being said, however, I can’t wait for all the scandals this is going to bring on. Sorry Phil. I know you invented the Wall of Sound and stuff, but you totally shot that girl in the forehead and I’m so ready for all the juicy details.
