Spitzer Battles for Web Real Estate

There’s only room for one Eliot Spitzer on the Internet. Just ask the man himself. Spitzer is poised to steamroll his opponents yet again—this time, over web real estate.

That’s right, Eliot “Steamroller” Spitzer is at it again. This time, he’s taking on the little guy. The New York governor has allegedly gotten the ball rolling on legal proceedings to strip domain names eliotspitzer.com and eliotspitzer.org from a New Jersey man who registered them in 2001.

It’s certainly not helping Spitzer’s take-no-prisoners image, but may be a smart PR move in the long run, depending on the current owner's intended use of the sites.

The addresses lead to nowhere as of now, but Spitzer is hoping to edge out Eric Keller from the web real estate. Keller’s retention of the domain names isn’t looking too promising, either: He has an apparent laundry list of unrelated legal woes.

And, in case we forgot, the Times reminds us what a steamroller is here.
