Let’s face it: protests are bad publicity for politicians. So when the press attempts to cover protests inside the office of this Rochester congressman, the solution is easy: ban the media. Fortunately for us, someone got a camera in anyway.
Some 20-odd anti-war protesters marched into Congressman Randy Kuhl’s (R-NY) office and demanded that the troops in Iraq be sent home. The media was told they couldn’t enter the elected official’s office to cover the protest.
The footage of the censorship and the protest can be found here and here, respectively.
The footage is pretty bleak. The fact that the media was denied entry to the office of a public official is cause for great concern and severely undermines the tenets of democracy.
