In Queens it can. A new art exhibit called "Emergency Room" is forcing artists to pull inspiration from the day's headlines and produce a work of art no more than 24 hours later.
It's like blogging for artists.
I think this is an amazing concept. Not only is creator Thierry Geoffrey pulling from the fast paced blogging phenomenon, but he's out doing it by adding beauty and creativity.
I haven't been to the exhibit yet, but I'm sure it's extremely creative and thought provoking. A large reason why I watch all the fabulous Bravo shows (i.e. "Project Runway") is to see how creative people can be under harsh time constraints. It seems the most intriguing and honest work is done when people are forced to go with their first instinct and simply produce.
Unfortunately, I probably won't make it to Queens before March 19 when the exhibit ends. If anyone does go, please take pictures and tell us what you think!
