Apple TV has launched and is ready to become the future of television.
This little device, described in this article as “an iPod for your TV,” does what Apple does best: takes technology already available on the market, simplifies it for the masses and wraps it in round, white, shiny, plastic packaging.
Apple TV basically takes your iTunes library and transfers it to your television, so you can watch all those shows you downloaded on your TV.
I agree that such a product would be useful. I’m a big fan of watching things on my television as opposed to my computer, especially when I’m with a group of people. In fact, at my apartment, we recently discovered that we can connect to the internet with our Wii. So we’ve been watching YouTube on our television. (We obviously don’t have cable.)
Apple TV is not for me, however. I don’t have a widescreen or high-def and I don’t have any television programs or movies downloaded on my computer. Apple TV may turn out to be more niche than it seems. Or maybe I just need to catch up.
