Tierney Won’t Call the Next Day, Month

Reporter Steve Volk said Tierney slighted him for 126 days in the recent issue of Philadelphia Weekly. Tierney, who recently fired 50 members the Inky’s newsroom, is rumored to be making overtures to PW. Maybe that's what prompted him to give Volk the following impromptu sound bite? Volk writes:

Until recently, he’d gone 126 days without returning a single request for comment from this reporter, clearly miffed at how he thought he was sometimes characterized.

Last week, as reported by Dan Gross in the Daily News, it was suggested that Tierney might be among those looking to buy Philadelphia Weekly. (PW owner Anthony Clifton has not responded to requests for comment about whether the paper is for sale.)

“All I can say is no comment,” Tierney told this reporter about that possibility after his appearance at the Constitution Center.

Evading a reporter for close to half a year is nothing short of impressive. Tierney is clearly falling in line with other media moguls who rarely engage certain members of the press. In this "evolving" profession, it's heartening to see that some traditions never die.
