Website Jobs Aren't Exactly Secure Either

Not even the online media world is safe anymore. TeenPeople.com will fold at the end of April, only one year after the print magazine folded. They don’t exactly admit having a small audience, but they don’t say they were doing well either.

The entire brand isn’t going under, though. Editor in Chief of People.com, Mark Golin, just wants to “combine traffic” of teen and adult demos to one site. People.com will pick up the most popular parts of TeenPeople.com, like the quizzes and polls that appeal to the younger readers.

But won’t this deter the older readers because it’s not appealing to their age group?

My apologies to those that lost their job. The site only supported two full time staff members, one of which is moving over to People.com.

Just goes to show that it’s not only magazines and newspapers that can fold.

But it's not a new thing for sites to go under...they actually are a bit harder to keep running as advertising is pays much less than print advertising.

And didn't Teen People go under awhile ago? It wouldn't be surprising that if the actual magazine went under, that the website would lose its fan base pretty soon after and follow suit.
