Teen Vogue's Eva Chen on Blogging

Eva Chen, beauty & health director at Teen Vogue, blogs about fashion trends, must-have beauty products, health news, and anything else that crosses her mind. The biggest benefit of blogging? Instant feedback from the readers.

“Getting feedback from readers to in book stories takes months,” said Chen. “With the blog, it’s a matter of minutes before there are responses! It’s gratifying to feel so close to the readers.”

When Chen first started blogging, she was surprised about just how involved the readers want to be with the magazine. With the distance between the magazine and the audience lessened, readers can give feedback right away rather than mailing in a letter and hoping that somebody reads it.

Also, she believes that a huge benefit of the blog is that it can attract new readers to the magazine. “The blog is a wholly independent feature to anything in book, so I think it's drawn in a few new readers,” said Chen.
