Newspapers Will Die, Not Magazines

Over the past few months, we've talked extensively about digital media taking over traditional media. But while I certainly agree that digital media will replace newspapers eventually, I’m not so convinced that it will replace magazines.

Mom Blogs on LHJ.com

As a spin-off of Ladies' Home Journal's "My Life as a Mom" column, where they have a different writer-mom write about her experiences as a mom and wife, the magazine is now allowing any mom to create a blog on LHJ.com that mimics this column.

'Vote For The Worst' on American Idol

"American Idol" is finally worth watching this season, thanks to the drama created by Howard Stern and Vote For The Worst. Both are backing 17-year-old Sanjaya Malakar, a mediocre singer at best.

TiVo Mobile, a new service from Verizon, allows users to set what to record at home from their cell phones for just $1.99 per month.

Total Request ... Taped?

MTV's Total Request Live is now only live twice a week and is taped for the other three days. With a huge drop in viewers from its peak until now--757,000 viewers per day to 351,000--TRL decided to broadcast live shows only twice a week in order to cut costs.

I was looking through my local newspaper at home today and saw a blurb mentioning that they're looking for some bloggers. The topics will be restaurant advice, shopping, dating, and parenting.

Verizon Wireless recently launched a new service that will allow users to watch TV shows from CBS, Comedy Central, ESPN, Fox, MTV, NBC, and Nickelodeon, all on their cell phone.

Nylon Connects Magazine to Online Media

Nylon magazine is having a contest through their Myspace page to find a band for the June/July cover. Readers will have the chance to vote for their favorite band from London, Berlin, Stockholm, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Sydney, or Paris in hopes of getting their favorite band on the cover.

The Future of Print

The world's oldest newspaper, first published in 1645, is now available online only. The last print edition of this Swedish newspaper was on December 29th, 2006 and now it exists solely in digital form.
